I had a carpet install customer call to tell me that his tenants had moved all of the furniture to prepare for the installation and wanted to know if we were going to compensate them for it. I said, “no” of course. He kept insisting that, since we weren’t going to have to pay the installers, we should give him a refund. I kept explaining that he hadn’t paid for that service ( ’cause it’s like FREE, you know). He seemed to think that he should be compensated for saving us money. I seemed to think that he shouldn’t get a refund of money he hadn’t paid. I won.
